Tailored Expositions: Prada Fall/Winter 2026 Collection

The Prada Fall/Winter 2026 Menswear show, Before and Next, made the story of the clothing the central theme of the collection. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons presented their work at the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada, whose walls displayed the usually concealed living rooms inside a condominium complex. In rectangular slots, wooden paneling and fireplaces of unfurnished interiors made the event intimate yet public, for the closed became open. What Prada and Simons presented was a philosophical proposition within a masterful use of technique, in which the deliberate repetition of a single silhouette creates a uniform that feels lazy . Worsted gabardines and crinkled finishes, felted wools, and fine-gauge knits were unveiled as if the patina of age had overcome them. The designers’ thesis suggested evolution without erasure -the passage of time as the central aspect of what gives their garments character.

Pre-stained cuffs and collars in brand-new shirts of distressed poplin -as if yellowed by time or stained by coffee- made the statement that to carry the impressions of life underscores the significance of duration. Aesthetically gorgeous, muted wools in coats were contrasted by colorful capes of technical nylon and rolled-up sleeves of juxtaposed tone silk and poplin shirts. The long overcoats showcased slim, lengthy, Ichabod Crane-like silhouettes. The collection exhibited much technical detail but little garment variety. The final walkabout, all in line, looked like a more colorful march toward the Sistine Chapel by cardinals ready for conclave. Extra omnes! The wrinkled hats and inventive weaves showcased technical prowess, but little concern for overall wearability, due to the designers’ intentional distancing from global trends. Philosophically, this collection will come to influence the future wave of men’s fashion. Today, lackluster wearability and variety make this collection an Aesthetic Confusion.
