Style File: Indian influence in Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection

louis vuitton spring/eummer 2026

Louis Vuitton 2026 Spring/Summer collection is a celebration of the spirit of travel. The work of Pharrell Williams was presented in Paris in June of last year, in a setting designed in collaboration with Studio Mumbai. A reframing of the iconic Damier motif, the audience was submerged in a life-sized, magnified board of the traditional game “Snakes and Ladders”, symbolizing, as if dice were rolling around, possibility.

Under the summery Paris sky, at the Centre Pompidou, models of both sexes wore Williams’s propositions for this summer’s collection, which draws inspiration from the colors of India. The toned-down palette used, as if sun-washed, interweaved unique sartorial signatures with modern trends for the fashionable, wearable wardrobe of today. Couriers that carried ornaments like those detailing Jharokhas or Garbhagrihas, elements of the kurta in some of the overcoats, and precious stones embroidered into bags, as if the Koh-i-Noor to the Queen Mother’s Crown.

The silhouettes are airy and expansive, in a triangle shape that is reminiscent of a Gopuram temple. Relaxed cotton suiting and wide lapelled jackets end up at feet clothed with fresh sandals. The look for freshness and cooling aesthetics is conspicuous on the bottoms. The use of vinyl fabrics looking to create the look of water running down a stream from the heights of the Himalayas, and the shorts seen all around the collection are proof of this. Look 5 is a great example of this concept, in which the brand’s most recognizable design elements are weaved with a philosophy that moves it forth. While the Louis Vuitton outfit can set you back several thousand dollars, recreating the fit is achievable for far less.

MUST HAVE

The “Modern Dandy” aesthetic just calls for it. Lacoste or Louis Vuitton are including luxurious silk in their menswear collections tacitly, and scarves are a timeless way to introduce this fabric in your wardrobe. Gorgeous, fancy, and elegant, a scarf will serve you well the year around, and this Brides et Chaines scarf by Hermès is all that you need to show you have taste. Made of a 70-30 blend of cashmere and silk, this item would be a glorious addition to your everyday wear. Versatile and made of high quality material, its cost of $1,100 is testament to the wisdom of Coco Chanel’s famous words: the best things in life are free, but the second best are very expensive.
